Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to work with students on songs they plan to perform, and I also work on basic vocal techniques including breathing, projections, and phrasing. I am also a pianist so can accompany my students on their repertoire.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Music from the University of Illinois, and also attended Graduate School in Music and Dance at UCLA. I studied with many of LA's best teachers, including Seth Riggs and Laura Hart.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My price is $100 for an hour class, but will give discounts for students and Seniors.
How did you get started teaching?
I had my own Dance Studio in High School, and have always loved teaching. I started teaching private vocal students in Los Angeles in the 80s, while continuing to perform and tour with my own live shows.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught vocal students from 8 - 65, and in all styles of music. I particularly like to work with artists who sing and play the piano, as that is my specialty.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
For the past two years I served as Musical Director here in Palm Springs for "Desert's Got Talent", a major fundraising event for "Boo 2 Bullying". I got to work with contestants from 6 years old to 68. I also love my yearly shows at Berlin's famous "A-Trane" Jazz Club.
