Scott Humphries Music Lessons

First Guitar lesson is long. Usually about 45 minutes. There is a lot to go over. But don't worry we will review it a lot.

I like to meet my students for the first two lessons so I can see that they are "getting" it. Then if I am sure we will then move to Zoom lessons.

The first lesson is free. Because sometimes it's not a good fit with the student or the parent. That way nothing is lost but time.

I have a B.A. in Music Education from Boise State University (1980)

I currently play with two ukulele groups here in Chula Vista and Lakeside. We preform at Care Centers, Retirement facilities, and Care Facilities.

I try and keep the lessons down to 30 minutes. Otherwise I am just practicing with the student and they need to learn how to do that.

I started playing in high school and it just developed into a job that I loved and like to do. Teach Music.

I try and keep my students busy with fun activities that have proven to be helpful for learning music. I try not to teach younger students below the age of 8. One they need to be able to hold the instrument and press down on the strings. Two they need to be mature enough to grasp beginning music knowledge.

Keep an open mind about what you are doing. Learning music is just like learning a new language. It takes practice and patience to learn. And have fun. It shouldn't be work.

You should have a place to practice. And make time every day. 30 minutes of practice is much better than 2 hours of practice just before you lesson.
