Guitar Lessons OC / Mitchell Townsend
About
I have 25 years of professional experience as a session and touring musician, playing guitar, lap steel, dobro, bass and mandolin and bass on countless recordings and stages around the world, with recording and performing credits ranging from Dave Grohl's Grammy award -winning documentary film "Sound City" to Jack Johnson's "Let It Be Sung". With an obvious abundance of available instructors to choose from in the area, I feel that my resume from years of experience as a full-time professional instrumentalist in the music industry speaks for itself. With Guitar Lessons Orange County, emphasis is focused on making learning how to play an instrument a fun experience as opposed to tedious and confusing, while still ensuring swift and efficient progress. Some of my influences include Jeff Beck, Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Peter Green, Eric Clapton, Ry Cooder, Pat Metheny, Robben Ford, Albert Lee, Lowell George, Jerry Reed, John McLaughlin, Tony Rice, David Lindley, Michael Landau, John Scofield, Joe Pass and many more. Lessons take place either in my private studio in Costa Mesa, or online in location in the world with a wifi signal. The weekly lesson schedule runs Sunday through Friday, from 9am to 8pm. The specific focus of a student's lessons depends on what level the student is starting from, as well as what the student own personal goals they wish to achieve with lessons. Everyone wants to learn and achieve different things, therefore a lesson plan is specifically designed for each individual based on their goals, their specific taste in music and other factors specific to them. Regardless of their level of experience, lessons for any student are always an intentionally well-balanced combination of technical progress and fun. Nothing makes students of any age lose interest more quickly than the experience of taking music lessons being no fun and simply feeling like a chore. Guitar Lessons Orange County excels at helping beginners of any age learn core fundamentals and start playing basic guitar quickly, helping intermediate players develop their natural ear and move into the world of free-form improvisation, and helping more advanced players refine their technique and become a well-rounded, versatile musician who is prepared to pursue professional work in the music industry. Learning how to play an instrument is something that has had a profound and deeply-positive impact on my life. Since first picking up a guitar 34 years ago, creating sound with my own hands is something that I continue to find fascinating and thrilling every day. Having even a small role in helping someone else discover that same personal connection with music is deeply satisfying.
