About this pro

I am able to offer the student one-on-one, hands-on approach for all levels.

I conduct lessons in a cozy and safe atmosphere-my home.

I provide ukulele, electric and acoustic bass guitar, acoustic guitar, and electric guitar lessons.i perform the lessons along with the students-as well as accompany them on drums, bass, or other instruments.

I teach chords, scales, harmonic theory and many various technical shortcuts that I have found useful.

I can teach students in whatever musical genre or situation they wish to learn in...everything from instrumental surf music to Hawaiian hula to punk rock to delta slide blues to jazz to hard rock to classic rock to country to metal to Christian music.

I really love teaching, learning, and jamming with others...just sharing the gift that I have.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I first conduct an assessment to get an idea of where they’re at on their instrument..we talk and I ask them what their musical goals are.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have played guitar since the age of 6.

I became a drummer at age 12.

I started playing the bass guitar at 13 years old.

I was a standout punk rock kid-musician in the 80's and played in many bands throughout my teenage years..in Pre-Sublime era Long Beach such as Second Sight, Proud Flesh, LaidLaw, Closet Classics, and Blues Control.

I attended and graduated from Long Beach City College’s Commercial Music Program-specializing in bass guitar with commercial music emphasis where I learned music and jazz theory and played in small Jazz group settings with the likes of Frank Potenza, Jan Moorehead, George Shaw and Joe Pass.

I traveled and performed professionally with Rainbow Bridge-tribute to Hendrix featuring Ray Spitzer on guitar; opening for such groups as Ted Nugent, Buddy Guy, Robin Trower, Buddy Miles.  I played bass, guitar, or uke on a host of indie movie soundtracks, short improv takes on TV jingles from companies like Honda and Johnson and Johnson.

I went on to master the Ukulele and performed in an awesome all-Uke group called Bigukethrobbin during the late 90’s to early 2000’s.

I played bass guitar and toured with the Skunk/Long Beach Glue Factory in 2004-2006. We recorded the LP "Psycho Drops" on Long Beach Records in 2005.

I lead the Worship Team at Calvary Chapel Los Alamitos from 2009-2015.

I founded and play guitar for notorious Long Beach trash rock group The Stymies-which features Eric Wilson of Sublime on drums from 2006 to present.
