I graduated from California State University, Fresno with a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Piano Performance. Then, I received a Master of Music from Colorado State University specializing in Music Therapy and have been a credentialed board certified music therapist since 2018.

For 12 years, I have been teaching piano lessons privately to students of all ages. I enjoy helping my students find satisfaction in not only learning to play piano, but in overcoming mental obstacles which come from learning something new. I will work with you toward meeting your musical goals, whether that is to play your favorite Beethoven piece, learn to play jazz standards, or learn to play songs your favorite songs!

I have known Allison for over half a year. Under her guidance our two children, each with very different learning and playing styles, have gained in performance ability and, most impressively, piano theory and musical knowledge. I have been impressed that Allison could make excellent use of the half hour sessions she had with each child, could customize the lesson and assigned practice to their needs, and could customize lessons and practice according to their specific wishes. Allison has taught my 10 year old daughter and my 14 year old son for the past year. Both with very different personalities and needs. Both of my children have had three previous piano teachers, and Allison is by far their favorite.
I appreciate her flexibility, organization, punctuality, friendliness, knowledge of the subject matter, and her way with children. When I first received her policy note, I was impressed. I liked how she is straight forward and everything is well thought out to avoid miscommunication. It was great to have someone so flexible with scheduling.
My family was able to get to know her immediately. She was friendly, a good listener, calm, and gave clear instructions to my children. My son is especially hard to please, but he even gave her positive reviews. He said that by far she was the best piano teacher he has had. When they play the piano now, I can actually tell it is a song!
It is not often you find an awesome piano teacher! We love her so much that we have continued with Skype lessons. She is a gift to us and has brought the gift of music into our hearts and home! You will be blessed to have her as a teacher.

Allison came into our lives approximately 1 year ago as the piano teacher to my 10 and 8 year old daughters. My daughters had previously taken group piano lessons and were not very excited or interested in continuing their piano lessons. With Allison’s patient guidance and teaching, the girls were able to overcome several difficulties and truly made significant progress on their ability to play the piano. They enjoyed spending time with Allison and in many little ways she became part of our family during her time with us.
I have always found Allison to be professional, conscientious and patient with my daughters, especially as they struggled against their own expectations to excel and play. She spent much giving them permission to make their own mistakes, which was extremely important given how my daughters tend to self-implode when they cannot immediately play something correctly. I believe in the process she helped them develop frustration tolerance and persistence towards working very hard towards a difficult goal.
I cannot thank Allison enough for keeping music alive for my daughters and allowing them the opportunity to discover how to achieve success in their music playing on their own without excessive external force, and in her calm, thoughtful and positive ways.

I have worked with students of all ages, from age 5-85. Some have had previous piano experience, but for many, it was their first time learning to play an instrument. It is never too late to learn something new!
