About

Heya! I'm Matt. I've worked with kids since I was 15 and became a junior counselor at a non- competitive experiential learning camp. I'd go on to run their games program and then become an administrator, which I did for many years. During those years I learned a ton about conflict resolution, child development, team building, and how to facilitate fun in a learning environment. I also ran the weeklong orientation where I taught classes on all of the above to a staff of 60 who ranged in age from 15 (like me when I started!) to 60.

I started taking piano lessons in 2nd grade and continued on through High School. In College I took private jazz piano courses. I've taught piano myself for the past 6 years or so. It's incredibly fun.

Additionally, in college I was a theater major so I know theater better than anything. I try to fill my life with music and theater as much as possible and so far have done a pretty good job of it. It's what makes life...well, life.

I didn't love EVERY SINGLE piano lesson or day of theater class I took growing up. But because I had incredible teachers, I've been given the gift of passion for these subjects. Through having fun, through being completely engaged, through demonstrating how cool, seriously, how cool these subjects are, I know I can give to others what my teachers gave to me. I hope I already have. My students definitely seem to demonstrate that.

Please see below for my resume. Thanks!
