Hello. My name is Diane Newberry. I am both a professional singer and a voice teacher. I am passionate about sharing all my experience and expertise with my students. Singing has been my

life's work so there is no guess work involved. I will show you how to use your voice with a technique that will serve you and any style of music

I have myself studied with some of the best voice teachers around. I studied voice and songwriting at USC's ISOMATA music and art foundation. Majored in Music at San Jacinto College. Most of all I have and am still working as a pro singer and I know what it takes to get out there and Sing!

Have only had one lesson with Diane which I felt was very informative. Have to hold off for awhile, hoping to continue with her at a later date.

As an artist myself (with a musical background and YEARS of childhood music lessons from a variety of teachers), I can confirm that not every music teacher is an artist, and not every artist is a good teacher. Diane is that rare and precious combination of a stellar musician AND incredible teacher. Our Zoom fatigued 10 year old daughter cant wait to log on to her lesson each week; and she always gets a balance of solid technique, encouragement, and carefully chosen and suggested songs that she is excited to practice. Her own technique has improved more than I thought possible in a short period of time at a young age. Miss Diane deserves more than five stars.

My daughter has been with Diane for six months and we have seen a lot of progress. We started with breathing exercises which have helped my daughter understand proper breathing and control. She still continues to work on breathing techniques as well as working on singing songs and understanding her voice range. We appreciate the way she explains the purpose of each exercise and helps my daughter with her range, breathing, and dynamics of a vocalist. We are so happy we found Diane!

I put my two teenage sons in her class a few months ago. She is an outstanding teacher. She is very patient in teaching both of them. She always motivates them to do their best. She teaches singing techniques connecting the breath with voice and builds their confidence. I can see their singing is much improved. I am glad I chose Diane Whitter.

Diane is very sweet, and encouraging. I’ve seen improvement in my singing in just a few weeks with the techniques she has taught me. Over all my breathing has improved and my confidence.

    Frequently asked questions

I typically will begin teaching the student a solid and proper breathing technique that will support and protect the voice.

I have vocal excerises to help the student connect the breath to the voice.

There is no one size fits all in singing.  I will access each student individually and proceed as needed throughout lessons.

I started teaching in 2010.  The principal of a very good school who knew my backround called and asked if I would take over the school's music and vocal program.  I really loved connecting with the students and teaching them how to sing. I have been teaching privately ever since.

I have worked with students of all ages ranging from 10 to 65 years old.  From many backrounds.  Some are already experienced singers,  and many are just beginning.

I recently coached a young women who landed the lead part in a musical.  She used to be so shy and afraid to sing out but not this time!!  She really opened up and sang her heart out.  It is those little wins that make me so happy as a teacher.
