
Esil’s Piano Lessons
About
Esil Empig is a UNC BM in piano performance and Kenan Music Scholar student from Irvine, California. Esil started taking piano lessons when she was 5. From 2015-18, Esil has won at the Music Teachers Association of California Baroque and Contemporary Festivals, the Southern California Junior Bach Festival, the Southwestern Youth Music Festival and at the 13thAnnual Sejong Music Competition in Chicago. In 2016, she was invited to the prestigious AVANTI International Youth Festival in Riga, Latvia. Esil attended the prestigious Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) Pianist Program. At OCSA, Esil was part of the Chamber Music program, Vocal Collaboration program, and the Frederick Fennell Wind Studies Program. Esil has been teaching piano for 5 years. She currently has a piano studio where she teaches children and adults. She plans to be a pediatric occupational therapist utilizing music therapy and has a huge heart for teaching children with disabilities.
What I enjoy most about teaching is being able to see the tremendous growth my students go through over a period of time. It is so rewarding to watch others fall in love with making music.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually have a free trial lesson. Chemistry is so important when looking for a music teacher.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have attended an Arts High School for Piano Performance for 4 years. I have also been teaching privately for 5 years working with children. I am currently studying piano performance at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with both children and adults as well as children with disabilities.
