25 years opera and oratorio singing. Read Italian, French, German, Spanish and Chinese. Currently most fluent in mandarin. Check out the best of Anna Bjarnson-Carson on Youtube. I also teach piano beginning thru intermediate. I was a pianist/organist before I became a singer. My students perform recitals and public performances at least twice per year, and we have a lot of fun!
Creating public performing opportunities is my favorite part of teaching.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
1/2 hour initial lesson (depending on your age), in which I get to know your present skills and goals. You will create a dream sheet of your favorite piano or vocal pieces (the ones you already know) that you'd love to perform or record. I often teach yoga breathing or simple Tai Qi as a warm up for both pianists and singers. Then I wrap up with the "why" of music and the "how" of music.
As lessons progress, I teach you how to adopt the new identity: "I'm a pianist," or, "I'm a singer." We make these statements a mantra - repeated at the beginning of every lesson or personal practice. Repetition of this statement in a state of relaxation accesses your subconscious mind directly, enabling you to learn faster and retain more.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Indiana University, studied piano and keyboard harmony with a grad student of pianist Jorge Bolet. Played for singers' auditions and juries at BYU.
