Students will get lesson designed to meet their desired goals. Everything they need will be given to them to go home and practice. The only thing they will need to bring is their guitar. I am also offering online video lessons through the app Zoom.
Seeing the excited look on a students face as they improve and reach their goals is the best feeing in the world!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask them what style of music they are interested in. I review the parts of the guitar, how to hold a pick, read a chord chart, music terminology. I give them a practice schedule With specific areas and a time table for each area.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied with Horace Hackett who played with The Jimmy Dorsey band, Red Nichols, Ted Fio Rico. He was a CBS studio musician. He taught many styles of guitar, including chord melody.
I studied with Rusty Anderson, who is Paul McCartney guitar player. Topics we covered included scales, improvisation, chord substitution, to name a few.

My rates are $25.00 for a 30 minute lesson and $50.00 for a 60 minute lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
I started in 1984 at a music store in Placentia called Instant Guitar. I was the only electric and bass instructor at this store.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with beginners through advanced students. My students range in age from 10 to 60 years.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my current adult students just recently succeeded in being able to execute a Bachman Turner Overdrive song. This is his favorite bands of all time. It was such a great feeling watching him play the song with confidence and great execution!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Always ask questions to make sure your comfortable with your understanding of what it is your practicing. If you are feeling like you don’t quite get what’s being explained, tell that individual to slow down and take it one step at a time.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What excites me about guitar? What do I want to be able to do? Is it your goal to play a particular song, or to be able to jam with friends, play in a band? Is there a particular style of guitar you like? These are a good point of reference you can ask your teacher.
