Mountain Music Lessons
About
I am a lifelong musician with a love of all types of music, and I've been a professional touring and recording session guitar player. I try not to focus too much on genre and just look at the SONG. That for me is where the magic of music is. What I try to pass on to my students is an ear for clever chord changes, and the tools to be able to convey emotion and to find what they really want to come across in the song. There may only be 12 notes, but there are endless possibilities of what they can do!
With me as an instructor, students can expect to be challenged to find their voice on the guitar, and to be presented with exercises. They will be learning not just chords and scales, but how and when to use them. I think that playing music is extremely gratifying and just simply fun. That is what I really want people to gain from my lessons: the freedom and joy that is music.

There are very few professions that allow (and force) someone to be truly creative. I love that music is intangible, and that just as soon as it is created, its gone; like drawing a picture in the sand. It can be recorded, but it will never be quite the same. It allows you to be present at all times while playing, and it makes everything else in the world disappear. I love giving that feeling to students, and seeing the light bulbs turn on when they figure it out. I am always learning, and always trying to improve. While the music is gone as soon as it's created, it will be with you forever, and that is what makes it truly magical.
