About
I feel like it is my duty to teach - I want to give back the knowledge my teachers were gracious enough to give. One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing the excitement and gratification students get from a successful performance. I am also grateful for the lifelong bonds I have made through music and I would hope to facilitate them as a teacher.
I have been teaching for 6 years and I have taught in many different situations. I have led after school pop bands, taught recorder, and taught music appreciation at LAUSD schools for students of various ages from six to eighteen. I have also led pop bands and conducted orchestras at summer camps in my hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico. I've found it very meaningful to teach in all of these different contexts. I have seen how students might not enjoy music at first but then can become very enthusiastic about it when they see they have improved.
I have been fortunate to play with many great musicians such as Peter Erskine, Geoffrey Keezer, Eddie Henderson, Sara Gazarek, Kathleen Grace, Anat Cohen, and Jamey Haddad. I graduated from Oberlin Conservatory with a Bachelor of Music and I am currently pursuing a Master of Music from USC.
