About
Great At Working with singers' of all levels, using breath, body, emotional intention - and of course a variety of vocal techniques to increase awareness, create freedom, and focus on individual singing goals.
What's different? I respond to the individual, their personality and learning styles, and their creative intention, and then create a path towards their ideals.
Everything! I especially love taking singers from a place of unsurity to confidence and expertise over a dedicated period of time.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First? Hear them sing something they love....so I can understand their perspective with music.
Then based on technical, creative, and emotional components to their music choices, I create a plan for building the sound, technique, and reliability of their voice.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
B.A. in Theatre - with an emphasis in Musical Theatre with training in voice and composition
25 years of professional piano playing and songwriting for various occassions
Continued study of voice with professional collaborators
Member of National Association of Teachers of Singing
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My "normal" rate is $75 an hour - but there are packages and sliding scale components based on the students current position.
There is an extra charge ($25) for going to the students house, a reduction for zoom, and packages over four sessions have a discount.
How did you get started teaching?
Being asked to! Since I was directing shows and performing a lot - and doing a wide range of styles - singers would ask me to coach for auditions or learning new techniques and expanding their range.
What types of students have you worked with?
Teen to 70's, beginners to pro, soul to pop.... it's all about the students needs and finding the path to their goals.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I've been working with an experienced singer that was not trained in technique..wonderful sound, but didn't have the breakdown of how to use her voice!
We strategized a 3-month plan: focused different weeks on understanding and practicing breath, placement, use of vowels, interpretation, note approaches, relaxation, and arc of the song. AMAZING results...she did the work - and I was the guide.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Understand that each teacher is different and that adaptability to your needs and practice is key to moving forward and finding that sound and skill that you want.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about the ONE event that you want to do - a solo, a concernt, a musical theatre show, a music video - the thing that would make you feel fulfilled - and then present that to a teacher and get their feedback on the process.
Be honest about time, effort, practicing, and what you will do to move forward...
