As a vocal teacher, I'm passionate about helping students who are willing to learn vocal techniques and the healthy way of singing, and answering their questions and concerns like I had before. Since I started singing, I've gone through many vocal-related conflicts and medical issues, and I've had complicated questions in my mind, which were extremely huge for me to deal with at that moment. However, it gradually became smaller and smaller as I started to face it.
I had numerous vocal issues when I was in high school. I was a kid who loved singing K-pop music all the time. Because I had terrible singing habits, my voice was pitchy and unstable, and I always lost my voice after singing 2 songs. I ended up being losing confidence in singing in front of people. Therefore, I decided to have classical vocal lessons for about 4 years, which helped me to build my fundamental vocal techniques solidly and to learn a healthy way of singing without hurting my instrument. Since then, I had pop vocal lessons for 2 years to be capable of singing many different styles of music, such as pop, rock, jazz, blues, and R&B. I've learned a lot and got improved vocally through trial and error. I would love to help my students who are passionate about learning music and singing like myself and resolve their issues and concerns together.
I graduated from Azusa Pacific University for my Bachelor's degree in commercial vocal performance in 2017. Now, I'm pursuing a master's degree in commercial vocal performance at California State University of Los Angeles. I'm working for Tustin Academy as a vocal teacher. I used to gig in the LA area and the OC area with cover songs. I'm working with my friends, who are LA-based songwriters and instrumentalists, to create our originals, which are pop/R&B influenced.
I really love to see my vocal students happy about their improvement and visible progress and feel confident singing with their trained, lovely voice in front of people. I enjoy to see my students to feel a sense of accomplishment in singing through my lessons and to share their successful stories with other people confidently.
Every explanations he makes is very simple and clear. He is very patient regardless of any circumstances. He will wait and explain again and again until his student understands. Very gentle and passionate person.
Very Talented in Singing and teaching as well. I had lessons more than 8 times in summer and fall. He is sharp in finding the problem and also gives proper solutions to that problem. Im very satisfied with the result!!
Yohwan is a fantastic vocal coach and all around good person. I've been taking Weekly lessons with him about 3 months now. He teaches me how to sing in tune and how to sing with mixed voice (head voice+chest voice). Now, I am able to sing higher than I used to do. I personally like his voice and appearance. Additionally, I really love his passion about music that delivers through his teaching.
1. Asking what a student would like to learn through a lesson specifically.
2. Talking about a goal a student wants to reach
3. Checking vocal range
When I had a first vocal student, I realized that I loved teaching. I felt grateful when the vocal students complimented me on my teaching methods and comprehensible explanation.
I've worked with students who need to learn how to breathe appropriately, how to sing high notes without straining their vocal cords, and how to sing a song stylistically with dynamic changes.
