About
I offer my students, both adults and children, the techniques necessary to PROPERLY DEFEND THEMSELVES. The sole focus of Northern Shou Shu is to have the students understand the movements and learn how to use them effectively, beginning with the basics: stances, blocks, strikes and kicks. It's very important for beginner students to learn these basics properly so they don't get hurt. Look me up on Facebook.com/reddragonmodesto or at www.redderagonshoushumodesto.com
What I enjoy about the work I do is teaching this very sophisticated art to anyone regardless of what their size or body type. I enjoy watching my students developed their self-defense skills. My extensive knowledge in Northern Shou Shu, thanks to Si Jo Al Moore Sr. and his right hand student now the Grandmaster of Shou Shu Da Shifu Jim Clark, I have developed a deep appreciation to this system of styles. Their wisdom has been passed on to us who loyal only to them. The system is very logical and scientific, this the reason I enjoy practicing it and teaching it.

How did you get started teaching?
When I discovered that I have the passion for teaching, especially children whose been a victim of bullying, for anyone who's been a victim or do not want to be a victim.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure to ask for a free lesson to see how they teach and what they teach. Make sure they can demonstrate it and have the knowledge to explain it. Most of all see if they are respectful to all their students no matter what age or rank.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
"What am I my prepared to do and what am I willing to sacrifice?" (Because to learn self-defense is not a hobby. It's a way of life.)
Learn the differense between value and cost. "What is the value in learning self-defense compare to how much will it cost me if I don't learn it?" What will it cost me and how much will it cost me if something happened to me because I'm not prepared to defend myself?"
Be realistic and ask yourself, "Am I really serious or just curious?"
"How serious am I, because when it comes to monthly payments I'll find out how serious I am."
"Is looking good more important than my safety?"
"What time do I have?"
