About
I believe the best way to share one's musical knowledge about playing the piano is to have as much fun as possible while still learning the basics with songs the student likes and wants to learn. I have been playing keyboards (& singing) professionally my entire adult life and love sharing with students.
I have played for Inaugaral Balls, governors birthdays, concerts, festivals, TV shows and have been named to the Kansas Music Hall of Fame (twice!). I have appeared in concert with War, Muddy Waters, the Tubes, Flash Cadillac & the Continental Kids, Kansas, Sugarloaf, Bo Diddley, Delbert McClinton, Tommy Bolin, Commander Cody, The Drifters, Shooting Star, Suzi Quatro, Billy Joe Royal, Rudy Love, The Grass Roots and Maria Muldair to name a few.
I enjoy seeng the 'magic' that happens when a 'student' of any age connects their mind with the notes on the piano as we venture into the joy of playing music.
I can also help you with any aspect of music you desire. My teaching spans 20 years. I am very patient & helpful.
It gave me great joy to hear the mother of 2 of my young students recently say,"Margaret & Isaac have thoroughly enjoyed every lesson with Dana! He has a gift."

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start out by getting to know the student a bit and asking them what kinds of music (any particular songs) they would like to learn. Then as I learn what they know and can play progress from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing (& singing) keyboards professionally for my entire adult life and have been teaching others for the greater part of that time.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
If the student can come to me, I charge about $1 per minute. If I have to travel to them, roughly $1 per mile, there & back.
How did you get started teaching?
Many years ago I began getting approached by audience members and friends asking if I gave lessons. I started realized that I really enjoyed doing it.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types on all levels but I feel I am best with beginners or students with 1 to 3 years experience.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you know, tell me what you would like to learn, let's talk on the phone and/or come for an initial lesson with me and go from there. If you can help it, don't be shy and ask anything that you like.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What kinds of songs/music they really enjoy or would like to learn.
