Qualia Cooking is about engaging all your senses with food. I teach you how to taste, touch, smell and even listen to ingredients as we transform them from separate parts to a finished, delicious dish.
I love interacting with people while they learn more about food. I think good food is esential to a good life.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to discuss with the student their goals, current skill level and what sorts of foods they most want to learn to cook. I like to find out how they like to learn. Some people have to have a recipe, others are fine with tasting and improvising. I enjoy working with an individual's unique style.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have many years experience working in some of the Bay Area's best restaurants. I am currently a private chef and cooking teacher.
What types of students have you worked with?
My classes are frequently attended by younger urban professionals, but I have taught people of all ages .
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently led a corporate team building event which was very rewarding. It felt like a restaurant kitchen in that there were many varied tasks to accomplish in a short time and hungry people to feed. I rallied the group to fisnish on time. Of course they were motivated since they were the hungry crowd.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be ready to do a little hard and have fun. Cooking is really not that intimidating.
