About

Qualia Cooking is about engaging all your senses with food. I teach you how to taste, touch, smell and even listen to ingredients as we transform them from separate parts to a finished, delicious dish.

I love interacting with people while they learn more about food. I think good food is esential to a good life.

I really enjoyed his class and Peter as pro-chef instructor. In the past, I took many classes with different style instructors.
Peter is not flashy, very down to earth so I feel not rushed and relaxed with wide open mind ready to learn.
Peter explains things through his long chef experience with soft and gentle manner, gives little tricks that I actually use every time I make pasta nowadays after his class. Thank you for Peter!!

Chef Peter Jackson is a great teacher! He clearly taught me all the steps to make a delicious crab ravioli with lobster sauce.
Peter is very patient and knows his stuff!

Peter is an excellent instructor, calm and reassuring in his directions and explanations. Previously, making pasta, and ravioli even more so, seemed daunting, but Peter demystified it step by non-intimidating step. This was better than any food show on tv or the web, as I tangibly worked with the ingredients, got practical feedback on what I was doing and had all my questions clearly answered. By the end, I was confident that not only could I make quality raviolis, I felt that I could do a reasonable job walking someone else through the process. I would take any cooking class from this knowledgeable and friendly chef. Please teach more classes!

    Frequently asked questions

I like to discuss with the student their goals, current skill level and what sorts of foods they most want to learn to cook. I like to find out how they like to learn. Some people have to have a recipe, others are fine with tasting and improvising. I enjoy working with an individual's unique style.

I have many years experience working in some of the Bay Area's best restaurants. I am currently a private chef and cooking teacher.

My classes are frequently attended by younger urban professionals, but I have taught people of all ages .

I recently led a corporate team building event which was very rewarding. It felt like a restaurant kitchen in that there were many varied tasks to accomplish in a short time and hungry people to feed. I rallied the group to fisnish on time. Of course they were motivated since they were the hungry crowd.

Be ready to do a little hard and have fun. Cooking is really not that intimidating.
