I teach structured lessons with homework, I don't just teach songs. I encourage people to understand theory and to read music, not just TAB.
I really like seeing people's skills improve over time. I enjoy working with students of all ages (5 - 105). My website is JoeGuitarMiller.com.
I have been a full-time musician for over 30 years in the Bay Area, specializing in acoustic guitar and ukulele. One of my specialties is fingerstyle guitar, which includes Travis Picking. My Jam Session Class (currently on Wednesday evenings) gives students a chance to lead songs, and a nice sense of community develops in that group over time.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I work on all the basics: rhythm, lead guitar, chords, technique, and reading. Usually students go through a method book plus supplemental books. As students progress they often suggest songs to work on.
