My teaching approach: Students learn good technique and basic music theory along with building a repertoire of pieces over time. I encourage performances (I organize recitals for students) and concert attendance. I hold a Masters Degree in Classical Guitar Performance and have been teaching and performing since 2005. I work well with people of all ages, backgrounds, and musical abilities and interests My influences are: Classical guitarists such as Andres Segovia, Christopher Parkening, Sharon Isbin, Fernando Sor, and Andrew York. My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's studio Guitar Lessons with me take place in the following areas: My studio in Temecula. Guitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Fingerstyle, Performance, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: If they are a beginner, we start from scratch. Otherwise, I will have the student play something for me to see where they are at. We also have a thorough discussion about the student's music goals and interests. We then will learn something new to practice for the week. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: We start by warming up with scales and exercises. Then the student performs the pieces they were to practice during the week. We continue to work on those pieces and go into further detail as needed and might at that point learn new pieces. The end of the lesson often entails reviewing old repertoire, playing duets, or learning music theory. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: One that practices, comes to the lesson prepared, and is not afraid to ask questions.
