S.M. Music Lessons

Salli is exceptional - very technical and nurturing - this leads to confidence and skill for you as the student. I was previously the guitar player for my rock cover band - MDB (My Dads Band) when collectively the band agreed I would move to the front and take on the lead vocalist duties for which I had no previous training. I began with Salli about 8 months ago - have had a couple of gigs and the response from our friends, family and the crowds has been amazing. I can sing out entire 3 hour set list without fatigue and having that confidence has allowed me to get better at engaging with the crowd and focusing more on my performance aspect. I am so grateful that I started taking singing and Sontag writing lessons with Salli!!! The improvement in my voice since starting our lessons is kind of amazing. I have so much more power, tone and control. My song writing has also really taken off and I’ve gone from wanting to be songwriter to writing a new song every couple weeks.

Salli’s teaching style makes you feel encouraged and supported. Unlike some other music teachers I’ve had in the past that have made me feel nervous to perform in front of them, I feel like Salli is able to make me feel confident, while still providing helpful pointers to improve. I also really appreciate the structure she gives you for practicing on your own. You will be armed with warm ups, cool downs and breath exercises that really work if you keep it up!

My 8 year old daughter has been getting lessons from Salli for a year and a half and she is playing really well. Salli taught her to read music and makes the lessons fun, so that my daughter looks forward to her lesson each week. We originally started with a different teacher and my daughter wanted to quit piano, because she wasn’t enjoying it. I’m so happy that we decided to keep trying with a different teacher and got Salli, because that made all the difference.

What can I say. I was the guy who everybody said You cant sing! During the two years of working with Salli, she helped me to prove them all wrong! Now Im singing with a rock band having big time fun. She is very flexible and easy going, no pressure but expects you to do your home work. She developed a routine specifically designed for me to get me the results I was looking for. You may think singing teachers are all alike. Not true. I have worked with several other instructors over the years but Sallis direction was what I needed to get to the next level.

I have been singing since I was a child however never had any proper vocal training until I started taking vocal lessons with Salli. She taught me many helpful techniques with singing from breathing mechanics to how to accurately mouth the words I am singing to project my notes better as well as many other techniques. Over the years I have used her techniques when recording and performing and I have seen my vocal abilities enhance and become way better than they have ever been. Salli is very professional and very knowledgeable in music and singing, and also a very sweet and sympathetic instructor. She really wants to help you perfect your art and will make sure it does happen, as I have seen it happen with me!
