Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thing I offer is an in-depth consultation/assessment/lesson which encompasses a vocal education, assessment of your ear, tone, range, abilities, how you learn best, and your first lesson which always includes proper breathing techniques as that is the foundation to build your voice on.
I teach in Oceanside, in-home in San Diego area and via FaceTime and Skype nationwide.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started studying voice in 1972 with John Hudnall then Kathy Hudnall, later studying with Judy Davis.
I started teaching voice in 1977 under the apprenticeship of John Hudnall. I also have a bachelors in music theory.
I went on to become a sought out studio vocalist, was in every type of group from classical through rock, toured, recorded, produced and choral directed.
I have a natural golden ear and an uncanny sense for harmony and writing parts instrumentally in my head. I am also a songwriter.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I have a 90 minute consultation fee of $90 and then different packages depending on how long and how many you buy. I offer 60, 45 or 30 minute sessions which can range from $50-$150 per session. I also offer longer sessions if needed, group sessions, band sessions and I can coach you in the recording studio.
How did you get started teaching?
I started voice training in 1972 with John Hudnall who started giving me his overflow of students in 1977.
