Beckie Euson Music
About
Hi!
My name is Beckie and I have played music for all of my life. I play and teach many different instruments such as the French horn, trumpet, voice, and piano. Even though the area says Agua Dulce on the map, my home studio is in Saugus!
I graduated from Chapman University with 2 degrees in music, Music Education and Music Performance on French horn. I also have my MM in French horn performance from UCLA. I was a member of the gluck quintet group, which consists of the top brass musicians at UCLA. We performed all around Los Angeles as an outreach program to nursing homes and underprivileged schools.
When I first began teaching, I taught at an elementary school for 3 years as a brass coach for a Montessori Academy. This is where I fell in love with teaching. I have been teaching privately for 18 years now and love the one-on-one attention that I can give the students.
Additionally, I have worked for great musical organizations like the Los Angeles Philharmonic and various places around Los Angeles.
Currently, I am a freelance musician. I perform regularly with the Santa Clarita Philharmonic and woodwind quintet Valley Chamber Ensemble, as well as other orchestras around Los Angeles. I have performed in such wonderful venues as the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Sydney Opera house, in which I was able to premier a piece!
I look forward to working with you or your child in helping to start or continue a musical instrument!
*** Lesson Details ***
When I teach lessons, I like to go at the pace of the student. I am very patient but I expect the student to practice during the week. I will always work with a student as long as it takes to have them understand what is difficult for them musically.
For music, I try to find free options but books may be a better option. For piano students, I like to use Piano Adventures for our first book together. For other instruments, books vary based on what the needs are for each student. Books are to be purchased by the parent.
I usually play my instruments with the students, but being a freelance musician, I may need to save my chops for an upcoming gig. Not always, but happens from time to time :)
I also have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you are late for your lesson, I will try to accommodate the time but may have students or rehearsals afterward so it will not always be a guarantee. If you are going to be late, please text me BEFORE the scheduled lesson and make sure that I respond.
*** Studio Equipment ***
Lesson space is in my home w/ seating for parents and music stand for students. I also have a cat and a dog, so if you are allergic, please let me know! They are always put away for our lessons.
*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical genres of playing but I am able to teach all different styles of music.
I enjoy teaching anyone to love music like I do. It is so much fun for me to see a student light up when they understand a concept or feel really great about performing a piece or even a. I believe in taking time with each student to understand their needs as everyone has different learning abilities and learning speeds. I teach at the speed of the student. However, I do also encourage the student and provide some challenging music to give them a goal.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I teach lessons, I like to go at the pace of the student. I am very patient but I expect the student to practice during the week. I will always work with a student as long as it takes to have them understand what is difficult for them musically.
For music, I try to find free options but books may be a better option. When we choose a book to play out of, I like to choose a book together so that the parent and the child are happy about the selection. Books vary based on what the needs are for each student. Books are to be purchased by the parent.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a freelance musician who has been performing for almost all of my life. I have been teaching privately for about 15 years and have had a studio here in LA for about 6 years. I have performed in such wonderful venues as the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Sydney Opera house, in which I was able to premier a piece!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I do have a standard pricing system for my lessons. If you are a lesson online or if you come to my home studio, my pricing is half-hour for $30, 45 minutes for $45 or an hour for $60.
How did you get started teaching?
When I was in high school, I was offered a job to be a brass coach at a Montessori school. It was the best job and I fell in love with teaching. From that job, I received students privately. I currently have a studio of 12 students and most of my students have been with me for 3 years or more.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all ages of students. My youngest student has been 5 years old and my oldest student, I have been sworn to secrecy not to tell :)
Since I have worked with all ages of students, I have also worked with all different levels of students. My students range from very beginning to playing in orchestras/wind ensembles to beyond.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am always happy when I am performing. A recent event I am fond of is when I was able to perform for my community at a holiday shopping event. It was a quartet of horns playing Christmas tunes and everyone who stopped to listen was so engaged and it made playing for our audience a lot of fun!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would find a teacher that is best for you. If the student does not feel like this teacher can help them and be patient in their learning, I would advise them to find someone who believe in them. Everyone learns in different ways and I like to think that I can help every student in their different ways that they learn so that they can excel on their instrument.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should think about what they would like to accomplish on their instrument. If they are just beginning, what would they like to learn? What would be their goal for a week/month/year?
If someone is more advanced, goals are great points to see a student's progress. I would ask an intermediate or advnaced student what they would like to work on and what they would like to work towards.
Any student I would love to help them with finding their instrument, either to rent or buy. I also do not mind helping with music and what would be best for their level.
