About

I am a former Marine and current boxing coach operating with Downtown Boxing Club, Vallejo. I boxed for roughly 6 years, and served for 3 1/2 years. I have a fairly broad knowledge base in physical conditioning and boxing. I've worked with men, women, and children, tailoring each lesson to the individual, even in large classroom settings. I feel that the most important thing next to achieving your goal, is to build on this community, and strengthen the individual's character, body, and mind.

My most favorite thing about this field of work, is watching the client or fighter grow. I live for watching the lightbulb click when they finally understand a new punch, as well as watching them smile after a session of hard grinding. The development the individual makes, however big or small, drives me to do the most I can.

    Frequently asked questions

I like to work with the individual closely, speaking with them to learn what they want, and continuing that teamwork to help them reach that goal. For example, I would watch a new boxer work a punching bag, work mitts with them afterward, disclose to them my plan to better them, and make those adjustments to a basic training plan until we are both comfortable enough to step up the intensity. That method is also brought to the table for physical conditioning, whether it be building muscle, strengthening cardio, or toning up.

I currently hold a basic level (green) certificate in coaching with USA Boxing, with about 6 years of boxing experience. I am continuously training both as a fighter and coach at Downtown Boxing Club in Vallejo. I also have a 3 1/2 year service record with the US Marine Corps, during which I trained extensively in physical fitness.

All personal one on one training is 35 dollars an hour. Classes of 3 or less maintain the same rate per fighter.

I started out coaching during my time in the Marine Corps. I felt that it was important for every war fighter I worked alongside with to have the opportunity to know what I know, in hopes that they would better themselves, and pass on that knowledge.

I have worked with adults, children, and youth. I find that everyone, no matter what age or physical limitation, has the making to become better.

A recent event regarding this work I am very proud of calls me back to working with a mother's child when my own coach could not make it to the gym. I ran Junior through stretches and dynamic movements, then put on the mitts to work his punching. Watching him get more excited with each punch he threw, and continued to build on it. I went through more advanced combinations, higher intensity, and let him fight his way through the round. I was astonished to see that he wanted to keep going, and I was more than happy to oblige.

Always listen to what your instructor has to say, but understand that they need to listen to you as well. It is a team effort, and both parties, not just the student, should be working hard.

In all honesty, the questions come as you train. The first and foremost thing you should ask yourself is what do you want to achieve? Because I can assure you, I can get you there.
