Firstly, I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music and am enrolled in course work to complete piano pedagogy certification. But let's start from the very beginning....when I was in first grade, my teacher asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. Without hesitation, I expressed my desire to sing, play piano, and perform. Beginning at the age of eight, I studied piano for eight years. While voice was always the stronger focus for me growing up, I found piano to be the cornerstone of my music education. With my piano experience, I was able to learn the skill of accompaniment for not just myself but for other vocalists. Music theory classes were a lot easier for me in college due to my piano background, and it helped my sense of rhythm and timing. I was also able to share my abilities by teaching my peers. I guess you could say that I started teaching piano in third grade! Learning piano gave me a head start in every musical endeavor I pursued and that’s what I promise to bring to you or your child through my teachings.
It gives me great satisfaction to impart my knowledge, and love for piano to my students, observe their growth through their dedication and practice, and to be in the audience as they perform and share their talent with an audience!
I know that the piano technique that I teach is correct. It allows the student to create that effortless and even sound when they play.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I teach students to read music classically, and also to read and write lead sheets, i.e., chord sheets. I have a specific curriculum that I follow with an emphasis on proper technique. Mostly, I want my students to experience the joy that playing piano brings, and the confidence it builds in their everyday life.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, as well as many years of vocal and piano training and performing experience. I have taken my breadth of training and shaped a curriculum that is rich in music education, and proper piano technique. All while engaging each student in a way that respects their current skill level, and taught in a way that is specific to their learning style.
How did you get started teaching?
My peers in school would ask me to help them to learn their pieces!
What types of students have you worked with?
I usually teach beginning and intermediate students, although, I have had other teachers request my assistance in helping them to strengthen their own piano skills, too.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my student's parents wrote me a lovely note expressing their appreciation for my expertise in piano instruction, and the patience that I exhibit with their child during our lessons each week.
