Yakov is an amazing teacher! I always wanted to learn to play the piano, but never got started until I was in my mid-30s. I called the local piano store, was referred to Yakov, and started with him from scratch. I had a modest goal in mind, to be able to sit down at a piano and play a few pieces, and I achieved that goal very quickly under his study.
He has introduced me to so many composers and pieces, has deepened my love for music, and I have really progressed further than I had ever imagined. Im always surprised when I bring him some music and he can sight-read it with such beauty and expression, even if its something hes never heard before! His teachings go far beyond learning the notes and plunking on the keys, he truly shares his passion for music and helps me learn each piece and play it with the expression that the composer had intended. Each lesson feels like a master-class! I highly recommend him for all ages and skill levels.

Yakov will push me to always improve. He has knowledge and experience to understand fine details as well as being a fine artist himself. I’ll never be limited by his skill set. I’ve worked with him for several years and have made so much significant progress in my study of the piano.
