What is your typical process for working with a new student?
With voice, I start with a basic vocal warmup so I can get to know my client's instrument. From there, each and every lesson varies based on client needs. I teach every client fundamentals of technique, and we work repertoire with every lesson and tailor the process towards individual goals and needs. I will also ask all new students questions relating to their taste in music, their musical background if any, and their goals and dreams with their studies.
With piano, I suggest my preferred method books but am open to work with any material you prefer. If you don't have a keyboard or piano, I have a portable one to bring. But it's ideal if you can practice on your own. Students learn in a fun environment, and I bring my years of training and knowledge of music theory to the process, and all students are welcome to perform in my bi annual recital for piano and voice!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Masters Degree in Music and have trained for years in all styles of singing, and I studied piano for ten years privately.

Voice begins at $100 / hour in person $75 / hour online
Rates for 45 min: $75, 30 min: $60
Piano begins at $75/ hour and is only available in person.
45 min: $60, 30 min : $50
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching after I earned my Masters Degree, and have held faculty positions at AMDA, was a founding faculty member at the French Conservatory of Music in Beverly Hills, and currently run my own coaching business - Lauren Carter - The Music Academy.
What types of students have you worked with?
With voice I have coached everyone from beginner to pro, including world famous artists. I currently accept students of all ages and level of ability.
In piano studies, I only accept beginner - intermediate level but I do accept all ages, and can take on most clients for several years of their piano studies.
