Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If a student is a beginner, we will start with learning basic theory, learning the notes, duration of the time, piano keys and more, which will help to do the first steps to learn and play the piano. If, the student previously learned to play piano, we will repeat of what he learned before and continue from there...
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My musical background comes from Russia, where I received my Masters in Piano Performing, Composition, Instruction, Accompaniment.
How did you get started teaching?
My teaching expecience started from high school. I was helping my schoolmates, friends, and my neighbors with no charge. Who ever was in need with piano lessons I would help. Teaching professionally I began when I was in music college, at age 17. I enjoy teaching from then, as much I enjoy playing the piano.
What types of students have you worked with?
I worked from 5 to 82 years old, from beginners to some students who previously had an experience with piano lessons. I worked with students who were in Music major and prepared them to get into Music schools. Most my students were accepted into UCLA, CSUN, USC.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It is very important to hire a professional tutor with teaching experience preferably with some references from other students.
