Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We custom tailor the new students first class to meet their future goals and current capabilities.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Lia Suzuki Sensei is one of the highest ranked female instructors in the country. She is internationally recognized and divides her time teaching at her own dojos, as well as dojos around the world.
How did you get started teaching?
She began teaching in 1996, after training intensively in Japan with masters for nearly 10 years.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try a few classes before making your decision. Did the instructor make you feel welcome and safe? Did the other students make you feel welcome and safe? Did the other students seem to feel safe and inspired by the instructor. If you answered "no" to any of these questions, I recommend you check out some other dojos near you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are your goals? Why did you decide to check out martial arts training?
