Although I had a couple of issues and disagreements with Dan when we first started, I do believe he tries hard to be a genuine and good teacher. He has a patient and calm personality and tries to keep the lessons as judgment-free as possible. After giving him the benefit of the doubt and giving his lessons another chance, I have decided that he deserves a good review. He has a lot of skills on several instruments, and I have no doubt that you will learn a lot if you give him a try.

Dan is very patient. He gives me positive feedback which helps me believe I will learn to play the piano. I am 67 and learning for the first time. I've only had 3-4 lessons and i am already playing with both hands. I am having fun learning and Dan has made these lessons fun.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First I need to find out what level you are currently at and then find out what you want to accomplish with your music.  I then reccommend possible method books, repertoire, lesson length, and frequency.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a bachelor's degree and performer's certificate in horn from the Eastman School of Music, a master's in horn from Wichita State University, and am currently working on a docotorate in music from the University of Northern Colorado.  Additionaly, I regularly perform horn, piano, and organ throughout the United States.  Additionally I am a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor and incorporate healthy body mechanics into every lesson.

What types of students have you worked with?

elementary to seniors

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What time can I commit to taking lessons and practicing?

What do I want to accomplish by taking private lessons?
