About

I teach using the fastest most efficient jiu jitsu and boxing systems developed to date. All of my training has been directly under the Gracies themselves on the Helio Gracie family lineage side. For the boxing I use the Mittology system which is a linear and progressive reflex based system of boxing that you can learn at your own pace with maximum results. The key to teaching jiu jitsu and boxing is not only teaching the right techniques, but introducing the right techniques at the right time in the students development which builds a hierarchy of proper development later on avoiding bad habits that limit potential.

Its my life's passion! I have been teaching jiu jitsu for over 10 years and I am a Mittology Technical Boxing Certified Instructor, and an NASM certified personal trainer, with over 25 years of experience in multiple systems of fighting and self defense. Teaching one on one and small group semi - private instruction is by far the fastest method to develop a students skill and understanding because the training is specifically designed for that individual, where as large group instruction is generalized.

    Frequently asked questions

The primary tools I use are punch mitts and a jump rope to develop fundamentals and improve fitness.  Lessons are designed to build real boxing skills and fitness at the students pace with a work rate that is not too hard or too easy while also learning at an accelerated rate which helps maintain motivation.  Lessons are then set-up and geared toward the students wants, needs, and goals.

I started training Jeet Kune Do and boxing at 15, then Gracie Jiu Jitsu at 18 with the Gracie family in Torrance California. I was always assisting the instructor teaching new students which had me enroll in the instructors program in each discipline.  By the time I was 20 I began to show a real aptitude not only for my own technical understanding, development, and performance, but also for teaching and relaying the curriculum to others in a positive and reinforcing way they could understand. I began teaching full time both group classes and private lessons. The rest is history.

I have worked with everyone from recreational beginners to professional fighters.  Working with ages 8 and up.

Is the instructor fit? How long have they been training/teaching? What are their certifications and credentials? However the instructor may have none of your expected requirements, and not only be a great teacher with tons of knowledge but also be the perfect fit for you. The point is to not give up on what you want after one or even two instructors didn't work out. The right instructor for you is out there. The student instructor relationship is like an actual relationship with a very unique dynamic that also relies on personal preference and compatibility.

The student needs to ask themselves; What am I trying to accomplish?  What is my end goal?
