Jeannette's Piano And Violin Studio
About
"Music is the one art we all have inside...All of us have had the experience of hearing a tune from childhood and having that melody evoke a memory or feeling. The music we hear early on tends to stay with us our whole lives." - Fred Roger's
Personally, I feel that music is written in the DNA of all humanity, and is the ultimate expression of our thoughts and emotions. Culturally, music enhances our celebrations and punctuated important life events. Music lessons help us to develop our innate predisposition for musical expression, and share a musical bridge first with our family members and friends, then our broader circle of relations, and when well-studied, our extended community. The interpersonal relationships-the beautiful connection between people that music fosters, is fundamental for happiness and health.
I enjoy teaching piano and violin lessons because it is rewarding to share in the development of young people, and to see the self-esteem that musical progress enhances. As a child builds their skills in music, and they begin to participate in the joy of live performances, this draws a wider circle of musical friends and experiences with people from different cultures and music from a variety of countries.
Specific skills for students to master will be outlined and updated weekly using a Google Doc shared to both parents and student. Lessons will include goals achievable in workable increments, relevant to developing correct posture, proper techniques, musical literacy, aural and reading skills, and improvisation, while encouraging a student's imagination and personal expression.
Methodology includes reading and technical exercises, sight-reading, rhythmic study, scales, cadences, arpeggios, and more advanced technique as appropriate to development. Music history and theory are also incorporated into the lessons, along with etudes, and step-wise repertoire.
I graduated with University Honors from both CSU and FAU with BS and MST degrees. I have been a member of the Parker Symphony Orchestra for 25 years as pianist/violinist/harpsicordist.
My students have been place winners in the American Protege International Piano and Strings Competition performing at Carnegie Hall in NYC, Colorado State Music Teachers' Association Rising Stars Competition performing at the University of Denver, Douglas Elbert Music Teachers' Association Spring Festival, Boulder Area Music Teachers' Association Achievement Day performing at the University of Colorado's Music Department's recital halls, and the Kiwanis Club of Douglas County performing at the Lone Tree Arts Center. My students have also held Principal chair positions in their school orchestras, and Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestra. Performing opportunities occuring throughout the year include nursing homes, studio recitals, Douglas Elbert Music Teachers' Association monthly recitals, community connection volunteer performances, and other MTNA program sponsored festivals.
It is my sincere pleasure to help each student discover their unique musical pathway, and individualize the curriculum and instruction to align with their goals. With a foundation in proper technique, musical literacy, musicianship and artistry, a student may pursue many musical genres including classical, pop, jazz, or other musical interests. A solid foundation in piano study also makes the transition of adding a second instrument of study much easier.
I look forward to the honor of meeting your family, and the marvelous adventure of teaching your child piano/violin lessons.
