About

I strongly believe that a great teacher never stops being a student! I am always learning and growing from my students, which helps me become a better teacher! I teach according to the needs of each individual student and recognize that not everyone learns the same way. I have been playing the violin for over half my life and teaching for most of it! I studied violin performance at Columbus State University's Schwob School of Music (B.M.) and the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music (M.M.) where I was the head violin graduate teaching assisstant. I also have advanced training in the Suzuki Method from the Lamont School of Music's Suzuki Pedagogy Program where I became a registered teacher with the SAA in books 1-8.

I love the moment when a lightbulb goes off for a student and they finally understand how to do something that they have been working hard to do. Violin is definitely not easy and there can be steep learning curves, but it is worth it in the end to keep trying! It is amazing to see what learning the violin does for students' work ethic and confidence!

Frequently asked questions

I always start with a trial lesson to see if the student and I will be able to work well together. I pay close attention to the individual needs of each student because I realize that no two students are alike. We then work mutally work together to make sure that the student learns as much as possible during the lesson and understands what to practice between lessons.

I first started teaching in high school at a local Suzuki camp. I then started teaching privately in my hometown and have since taught in Georgia, Colorado, and Tennessee.

I have taught students of all ages! I teach children, undergraduates in college, and older adult beginners. I also have experience teaching intermediate and advanced violin students.

I recently had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City. My entire family rented a van and drove all the way from Georgia to hear me play! I wasn't expecting it to be such a fun experience, but playing the violin and exploring NYC with both sets of grandparents, parents, and siblings is a memory I will cherish forever.

I would advise students to always look around to find a good fit for them. Ask as many questions as you can and try to find a teacher that you can see yourself working well with.
