About

I have been privately teaching music for 15 years now, emphasizing diverse styles and approaches to my students with a depth of knowledge that is informed by both professional experience and academic studies.

Whether it be guitar, bass, ukelele, composition, or music theory/history, I can help you to achieve your goals with personalized curriculums and music.

I love helping students reach their own goals. My lesson approach can be intensive, but students who are passionate and committed will find a wealth of performance opportunities through collaborative effort.

    Frequently asked questions

This varies on the initial conversation with a student, because I work to help students meet their own goals. I teach using a variety of methods like Bradford Werner's Guitar Method, Sor Studies, Pumping Nylon, Berklee Press Materials, and much more to find material that will best prepare students to play the music that they enjoy playing.

Though each lesson is specialized to the student, listening & reading music, musical analysis, and physical technique are emphasized in each lesson.

I have a Bachelors and Masters degree in Guitar Performance, and am finishing my doctorate in audiology.

The rate for my lessons is: $30 for 30 Minutes, $50 for an hour, or $60 for two hour lessons.

If I travel to the student, an additional travel fee is computed using the travel time at minimum wage.

I started teaching in a small music store in western Nebraska called "Lou Kraus Music." From there, I have tutored and taught at University of Nebraska at Kearney, University of Northern Colorado, Loveland Academy of Music, and Music & Arts,

I have taught for 15 years to a wide variety of clients. I have expertise making music accessible to everyone with teachers having shadowed me to learn how to work with children with disabilities, as well as challenging seasoned musicians at the university setting.
Think about the outcome you want and the skills you will need to get to get those outcomes. Some skills may not need a teacher, and some may benefit substantially from a teacher.
You dont need to know everything immediately regarding why you might take lessons, but you should have some regular music exposure in your life prior to lessons. How will you connect to the music that matters to you?
