About

My name is Gary Bishop and I am professional musician. I teach piano, electric keyboards, theory and composition. I have lived and teach piano and keyboards in the Golden area for over 19 years. I have enjoyed teaching students of all ages – elementary through adult through those wonderful years. I currently play keyboards in a classic rock band in the Denver Metro area. I offer lessons on electric keyboards and acoustic piano – all styles (classical blues, contemporary, new age, etc…) and have worked with Finale song writing software. I have been playing professionally for over 40 years and I am bonded with Jefferson County. The first lesson is free – a ‘meet and greet’ session where we go over your interests, methods of learning, studio policies and tuition. Would love to hear from you!

My son took lessons from Gary for 10 years, from 2nd grade all the way through high school. Gary has a way of encouraging his students to be persistent. He allows them to play music they are interested in, a huge plus to retain their interest. My son continues to play in college and draws students to his dorm with music.

Gary has been teaching my daughter for the last 3 years. While he is always kind and patient with her, hes also not afraid to call her out (in a gentle way) when she hasnt practiced. He gives her good practice tips and lets her pick fun pieces that she wants to learn. He also maintains a nice balance between piano theory and regular lesson book music alongside the fun of learning a popular song. Weve truly enjoyed our experience with Gary.

I highly recommend Gary Bishop as a piano teacher!My son took piano lessons with Gary for the last 4 years. He was already taking classical lessons from another teacher, but his ever growing love for jazz and blues prompted us to sign up with Gary as well. Gary really helped him increase his knowledge of these musical styles, and he helped him develop better music sight-reading skills. My son graduated from high school in May and no longer takes lessons with Gary. He is continuing his music education in college playing saxophone in a jazz big band and piano in a small jazz combo.
