Teresa Hegyi Piano Studio

I thoroughly enjoy my piano studio, and feel thankful on a weekly basis that I get to work with such wonderful kids and families. I am a serious but nurturing teacher, and have had many students who have remained with my studio for years. I believe that parents need to be involved in helping their child schedule practice time through middle school at a minimum. I teach my own daughters and still remind them to get to the piano. The more piano becomes a regular routine, the more successful a child or adult learner will be at it. I believe that we as parents of budding musicians need to encourage them in their practice and insist upon it.

I teach weekly 45 minute lessons. I am classically trained, and primarily teach serious music, however, my students also do popular piano parties, halloween theme performance parties, etc. Many of my students participate in Foothills Music Teacher Association events like Sonatina Festival. I teach my own two daughters (age 12 and 15) as well as adult students. My students also have the opportunity to participate in the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program. This program requires a lot, and is for the serious practicer!!

Children taking lessons in my studio participate in a yearly end of year recital for parents and friends, and also piano performance parties which are at my studio and only for the students. This helps them to get to know one another, and provides for more performance experiences. I teach ear training, theory, and performance in the individual lesson as well.

I have graduating seniors who are currently pursuing bachelor of fine art degrees in piano performance or minors in music at Colorado Universities.

My students all play original (un simplified) classical music. I use various method books to start. I also teach music theory, and try to incorporate teaching about art and architecture, etc to help kids understand the different periods in music, (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionist, 20th Century, etc.) I have a library of CD's which I loan to students, as well as music books of various subjects. I purchase music for students, and invoice parents for book fees.

I am strict about my studio policy, especially in regards to missed lessons, however, I will say that when possible if you contact me, I will try and reschedule a lesson if advance notice is given. For example if a school event happens, and you let me know, I will try and reschedule that week. Any lesson I cancel will be rescheduled.

I have a studio policy and list of repertoire I’ve performed in formal concerts as part of degree requirements or as part of my continuing performing schedule. I would love to schedule new student interviews and do currently have openings.
