About this pro

I am a professional piano teacher that has been teaching in the area for more than 30 years. I have a Master´s Degree in Music from the Warsaw Conservatory of Music in Warsaw, Poland, as well as from the Conservatory of Music in Stockholm, Sweden, and have a lifetime of experience as a pianist and organist. Music is my life. I love teaching and teach all ages and levels. Please contact me for a free consultation; check out my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/alicia.johanssonpiano.7

I enjoy seeing the progress starting from a young age, going through all stages of learning to become accomplished musicians as adults. I like the enthusiasm and their love for the piano. I especially enjoy seeing the confidence built when they perform at recitals and auditions.

Alicia is a phenomenal teacher! She taught me how to play the piano, and she taught me how to play it beautifully. Her lessons cover everything – reading and understanding music, proper form and technique, posture, musicality and passion and feeling. She is a classically trained pianist from Europe who spent years playing for Sweden's royal opera house and ballet. She knows her stuff, and she makes sure her students know it, too. When I moved away from the Denver area, I took lessons with a couple of other piano teachers, but it was never the same. Alicia, more than any other teacher I have known, emphasizes the importance of technique, and equips her students with exercises tailored just for them. Need practice on your staccato? Alicia's got you covered. Need to work on strengthening your left ring finger? She's got an exercise just for that. :) She gave me ample free handouts, told me exactly which books I needed, and was there with me every step of the way. She's a wonderful teacher, an amazing pianist, and I am so grateful that I learned how to play from her. Highly recommended.

My doughter was Alicia’s student. Alicia provided an over all knowledge and a good base in music. My daughter progressed quickly giving her confidence and comfort in performing in recitals.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First, I offer a free consultation to the potential student as a way for us to meet and discuss desires, needs, styles, etc. In this meeting, we can decide meeting times, types of class, place (their house or mine), and music.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have Bachelor´s and Master´s Degrees in Music from the Warsaw Conservatory of Music in Warsaw, Poland, as well as a Master's in Music from the Conservtory in Stockholm, Sweden. I also have a certificate in organ from Uppsala DomKyrka (Uppsala Cathedral) in Uppsala, Sweden. I have been a professional pianist all my life, as well as an organist for a large part of my professional career.

I have worked as a piano accompanist for concerts, singers, other instruments, and ballet classes and rehearsals. I have worked as an organist and choir director in churches for many years, as well as accompanied weddings and funerals.

I have years of experience as a piano and organ teacher in the Denver area.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with all ages and levels in my years of teaching, from young children around 5 to older adults in their 80s, and from beginners to advanced students.
