Erik has experience in Music that is as extensive and profound as it is melodious and expressive. Weather he is playing an acoustic bass in a quaint jazz trio in a relaxed coffee shop still being heard in the back of the room as he casually walks his way up and down blues scales, or when working with the much more aggressive techniques of rock and funk on the slender body of an electric bass with the support of a house full of speakers and subwoofers his lines, tonal direction and musical persona as a whole are communicated so sweetly, and so deeply, yet seemingly effortlessly with his musical prowess and skill-full technique at the root, being honed sharper and forged stronger with each note. Erik’s history in music and the number of ensembles he has worked with is too great to recount here, so I will list only a few. Wail attending Henderson State University Erik double majored in String Bass and Bass Trombone Performance. After some time of that Erik grew to miss the mountains of Colorado and upon his return began studding Music Education at Metropolitan State University, at which time he also served as a Board Member and Assistant Principal Bassist for the Denver Pops Orchestra. Other than the grandiose pomp and circumstance of these massive ensembles Erik co-wrote numerous albums and Eps with rock groups in the Denver area. However, Erik most enjoys the splendor that is the culmination of the arts, by playing in pit orchestras for the theater. Erik has performed with many fabulous theatre companies, orchestras, and ensembles of all kinds, and is already working on upcoming productions. Although much of his studies were, and skills are, in acoustic instruments, his knowledge however, is not limited to just the musical technology of the Classical Era. Working with various events companies, such as Dana Cain Events, he found himself off of the stage and into Event Management and learning the latest in Audio Engineering. Erik created Tonal Awareness Production where he has worked as Stage Manager or Head Audio Engineer for events such as; The Colorado Chocolate Festival, The Unicorn Festival, Denver Witches’ Ball, and The Denver County Fair, just to name a few. Drawing on experience and insights gained from the cramped corners of dive bars to the dwarfing concert halls of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Erik is delighted to share his knowledge and ethos with the students he teaches in his Private Music Studio at the Denver Music Institute, or with the students at Ben Franklin Academy where he is the Band and Orchestra Elective Director, or anyone who will listen. Erik is honored and great full for the experiences and opportunities he has had and for those who have been with him along the way, and is excited for more from all of his musical endeavors still yet to come.
