I have been a full-time professional teacher and performer for over 30 years. My primary goal is to ensure your success! This is achieved through a balanced and sound approach in a non-stressful fun environment. I am very patient and flexible. I can and love to teach all ages (and variety of styles) from beginning to advanced and from young to senior adults. There are a lot of teachers if you just want to play the piano but if you want to be the very best that you are capable of being then you should sign up for lessons with Gary. He has a lifetime of experience and has played venues all over the world. I do not believe you will find a better teacher and coach.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I'm a very flexible teacher and know that every student is unique. By talking and interacting with the student I can get to know their learning styles better.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor of Music Performance (Piano) from Tyndale College, Toronto
Masters level piano from Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing system is based on a monthly tuition (usually means 4 weekly lessons). Tuition for weekly 45 minute lessons is 160.00 and weekly 30 minute lessons is 116.00. I can also set up a flexible per lesson basis for students who may need that.
How did you get started teaching?
Decided I would be a pianist when I was six years old. Have been a full time professional musician and teacher my whole career. How lucky am I!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all ages and levels and enjoy the unique challenges and joys of everyone. I also am easy going and know that learning music should be first and foremost enjoyable. Several of my students have gone on to professional studies in music.

I enjoy attending live concerts and always appreciate the artistry and talent
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Take your time to find the right fit. Personalities and styles are important as well as experience and qualifications.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are the reasons for studying? Ask what a teachers philosophy of teaching is. What are the expectations from the teacher. Will there be periodic recitals during the year.
