Jerusalem is an incredible piano teacher for my 7yo son. Shes excellent at adapting the lessons to his strengths while also supporting his learning in his challenges, keeping learning piano fun and engaging, as well as allowing him to set the pace for his learning. I really appreciate her flexibility and fostering his interests when they come up, since he tends to be a very squirrely and energetic kid.

My girls have thoroughly enjoyed lessons with Mrs. Walsh! She is always prompt and prepared, which made them want to be as well. Her passion for music and teaching are evident through her demeanor and joy she brings. She is kind and knowledgeable and really knows how to help all levels start where they are and excel. I loved the reports that I have received because they help me know where each of my girls are doing well and what they should be working on. This has also been helpful for them to understand what’s expected of them. I highly recommend Walsh Music Academy!!

A classically-trained musician, and certified music teacher; Jerusalem Walsh received her Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the UNCG School of Music in Greensboro, NC. She has taught private piano and voice over the last 28 years.

Her teaching philosophy is to improve students from wherever they are; however they come, and that learning music should never be stressful. She’s worked with students of all ages in a wide variety of subjects; and thoroughly enjoys every teaching opportunity.

I have always been involved in music, and come from an extremely gifted musical family. We have done music and teaching for many many generations. I have always loved teaching others and sharing the gifts God has given me.

I started teaching piano in college, and began my work with K-12 students in my practicum experiences while earning my degree. Once I began my first career job as a Choral Music Educator, I continued to teach piano & voice privately as well as teach music through various church groups such as worship teams, choirs, kid's ministries, bands, and orchestras. I always looked for an opportunity to bless others with the knowledge I was blessed with.

I have worked with students of all ages; from infants to adults in many kinds of classes/settings.

I have a high level of successful experience with special needs children & adults as well.

I have thoroughly enjoyed our recitals and seeing my students shine.

I would recommend asking several teachers about the following specific questions:

How long have you been teaching, and do you hold a degree in music?

What strategies do you use to encourage practicing?

What is your policy on rescheduling/missing lessons?

What performance opportunities do you provide? Are there extra fees involved?

When is tuition due and what payment options are available?

Students should think about what their goals are in music. What do they hope to accomplish by taking lessons? Which musical path do they want to take? Can the teacher they plan to work with help them achieve these goals? Will they be forced to follow the music path the teacher sets, or their own music path (within reason)?
