Then I would begin in that particular style with exercises that apply. We would decide if the student wanted to learn standard notation or tablature or both. After doing exercises and perhaps reading studies I would find songs the student likes which night pertain to a technique we are working on. I would then transcribe the song an help the student break it down. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: Someone who shows up eager to learn and have fun.

I’ve been taking lessons from Jamie for over a year. What a terrific experience it has been! He has adapted the lessons to my needs. He throws enough new material at me every lesson which forces me to put in the practice time to get better. He helps me choose songs that are just slightly above my skill level to push me forward. He’s also personable and fun to talk to. I know Jamie can get me to be the quality guitarist that I want to be. John Fiengo

I've studied with Jamie every week for almost a year. He is a great player who also knows how to teach. He is dedicated to teaching, and can take you as far as you want to go on the guitar and several other stringed instruments!
