Paul Fredericks brings over 20 years of dynamic musical expertise and 15 years of teaching to every note he plays and every lesson he teaches. Formerly a full-time teacher and Studio Lead at Music & Arts in Fairfield, Paul has transitioned to new opportunities while leaving an indelible mark on the musical community, Paul also shares his knowledge at the prestigious Westover School, shaping the next generation of musical talent. His dedication to music education has also been celebrated by Music & Arts with national recognition, featuring Paul in their nationwide brochure and spotlighting him on both their company livestream and LinkedIn page.
Beyond his teaching prowess, Paul is a devoted student himself, currently pursuing his third certification from Berklee School of Music with a focus on Guitar specialization. His passion for music extends into the realms of jazz and composition, where he has not only performed alongside greats like James Moody but also contributed to editing a music book with Grammy recognized music educator Patrick Smith. As a studio musician and composer, Paul has a rich history of collaboration and creativity, having worked on various projects ranging from video game soundtracks to touring rock bands, opening for icons like Foreigner.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always like to see what they already know. Get a baseline of the basics down like reading music, scales, chords, key signatures. I always try to teach at their level and make sure they completely understand the teachings.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching private lessons since high school, have tuaght at 2 private music schools in the past, currently working at 3 music schools and online as well as my own freelance work.
I have a bachelors of music, studied at yale school of music, university of bridgeport and georgia tech university.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in high school as my music professor wants me to help out other students. I fell in love for teaching and music theory.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with young students as young as 5 ears old as well as more older students around 55 years. I can teach very beginner to extremely advanced as well as ap theory and college test prep.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You want to like your teachers personality and make sure your teacher fully listens to you to understand your questions, concerns, practice etiquette and more.
