Rachel Panay Raziel Music Lessons
About
I am a graduate of Duke Ellington School for the Arts and the prestigious Berklee College of Music. I was fortunate to be a 6 time Billboard Club charting singer/songwriter in the Dance music genre. Throughout this time, I taught for Wolftrap's Teaching Artist program in DC public and charter schools and Levine School of Music's summer programs. For almost 20 years, I have ran my home studio for piano, voice, music theory, songwriting, and more. Within the last 5 years, I have adapted all lessons to also occur online.
As teacher, I am warm, friendly, energetic and passionate about every facet of music! Its hope to impart that same excitement and appreciation to my students. I tailor lessons according to the individual student's goals and interests, while choosing materials that will build and support a strong musical foundation!
With younger students, I communicate regularly with parents so they can work together to get the most out of lessons! I find it rewarding to teach foundational skills that empower students of all ages to engage with the music that inspires them and to play that music to the best of their ability.
This is the case for both piano and vocal students.
For vocal students specifically, I consider myself more a coach than a teacher because the voice is something you already possess and have used since birth. My goal is to help you reach the full potential with your existing instrument.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are a prospective piano student, you or your child must have either an electric keyboard, digital keyboard, or acoustic piano. I have helped MANY students find and purchase instruments that work well for their space and their budgets! : )
