About
Tracey Lee McKenna is a bad-ass singer who got there the long way round a opera house."
Tracey is an experienced vocalist, Musical director, educator, and vocal pedagogue with a specialized background in not only classical voice but also commercial vocal music. She began her career as a vocalist when she enlisted in the United States Air Force. During her four years of service, she performed in over a thousand live concerts for stage and television as the lead vocalist with the United States Air Force Band of Flight. She has performed for former presidents, heads of State, foreign dignitaries, troops, and the American public. She was privileged to have made three nationally acclaimed recordings while proudly serving.
After the Air Force, Tracey owed and operated a performing arts studio for over ten years teaching musical theatre to hundreds of students of all ages. She soon discovered that vocal education focused heavily on traditional styles and that there was no manual for teaching contemporary and commercial music. She relied on her innate vocal instincts to educate her students, but she wanted to learn more about how to help students struggling to develop their voices.
So, at the age of 50, Tracey decided to go back to school and expand her knowledge in the vocal process. She moved across the country to attend the prodigious Shenandoah University, where she became one of 12 people in the country to earn a Master's Degree in Contemporary Commercial Vocal Pedagogy.
Tracey teaches all varieties of singing techniques, including pop, rock, musical theatre, country, R&B, blues, jazz, and classical voice. She can do it all! She is a vocal pedagogue trained by the best teachers in the nation.
