Singing Lessons
About
Voice and Guitar Lessons located in Friendship Heights, MD or virtually. Hourly rate: $65 Over 16 years of dedicated teaching experience. As a singer and voice coach, I specialize in the Functional Voice Method (also known as the Rabine Method), helping students unlock their full vocal potential. Starting with vocal exercises designed to improve coordination, control, and balance, and as we progress, I adapt them to support the musical style or styles you want to work on. Posture, movement, breathing, and vocal shaping all play an important role in singing. Understanding these elements—and more importantly, building your training around them—is key to developing confidence and freedom in your voice. As a guitar teacher, I teach electric, acoustic, and classical guitar. If you're just starting out, we'll focus on essential chords, scales, technique, and proper posture for both hands. No reading skills are required at this level. I'll teach both TAB notation and standard music notation as needed. As you progress, we'll move into the "A Modern Method for Guitar" series by William Leavitt, combined with studies of pentatonic scales, triads, and chords. More importantly, we'll focus on understanding how to actually use these concepts in improvisation, composition, and real musical situations. Let's get started! You can book a lesson right away—just contact me to check current availability. I also offer a free introductory video call to discuss your goals, interests, and see if we're a good fit. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
- As a foundation principle of the Functional Voice Method communication is essential. There should be a very open and honest dialog between teacher and student. You can, and I encourage my students to ask, propose and work together.
- Because posture, movement and breathe have such a mutual influence; we usually need some work or excercise regarding the body (movements envolving legs, arms, walking, jumping and a large etcetera).
- Having fun while training is extremely important to me. All learning came from a space of enthusiasm. Especially in arts and music.
- I prefer to work with the music you bring, the songs you want to sing and improve. I can always suggest and form time to time I like to propose some music.
