About
I believe I offer three important qualities to my students. 1. As a pianist with many years of experience, I know and teach many genres of music, plus I have formal training with a Bachelors of Music Eduation degree. 2. I also know how students learn and I tailor your instruction to your needs. I have a Masters of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction - and many years teaching all kinds of students. You benefit from that. 3. I teach with your goals in mind. I enjoy teaching very young beginners, senior citizens, and every age in between.
I love watching my students have "A-ha!" moments - when they "GET IT!" after working hard. Music study is difficult but so rewarding! I teach not only how to play the music we are learning, but the why behind it, including Music Theory, Music Appreciation, and more. I want my students to make music and enjoy it for the rest of their lives!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Our first lesson is a time to make introductions and make sure we will work well together. If a student already plays piano, I ask them to play their favorite two pieces for me. We talk about likes and dislikes, goals and dreams, and details like payment, pracitce habits and requirements, and lesson expectations.
