About
Hello! My name is Chelsea and I have over 16 years of playing the piano, and over 7 years experience teaching piano to beginners (from young children to adults). I have a big passion for music and passing on the necessary skills to new and eager learners! I work hard to make sure each lesson I teach is tailored individually to each student and their particular needs (including special needs and sensory stimulation needs as applicable). I also like to introduce elements into the lessons that make them fun for each student, whether they are Star Wars fans, or if they would like to learn mostly sacred/religious music, or if they learn best through fun games and exercises!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I work hard to make sure that each lesson is tailored to the student's strengths, termperaments, and special needs (if applicable). I also like to make the very first lessons especially fun, since learning music should be engaging and joyful!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing piano for 16 years, including performance experience in multiple church programs, school programs, and regional competitions. I have also been teaching piano for the last 7 years to both young children and adult beginners.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Contact me if you'd like me to travel to YOU for a slight additional fee.
How did you get started teaching?
I started off teaching family and friends, and I discovered that I loved watching my students work hard to practice the songs that were meaningful to them. Watching one of my students learn to play his favorite Disney song sealed the deal for me!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked primarily with beginners, from age 4 to middle-aged adults.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had the privilege last year of seeing several students perform in a Christmas concert. There is nothing more beautiful than the satisfaction on their faces when they did their best and produced amazing music!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Learning a new instrument, at any age, can be challenging, and the challenge can sometimes seem daunting. I would encourage prospective students to work hard and your patience will more than be rewarded!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Music can be enjoyed and learned by kids and adults of all ages! However, my ideal beginner students would be of kindergarten age or older, with a basic understanding of the alphabet and who can read simple instructions (or have a parent read them).
