About this pro

I focus the lesson on what the student wants to learn and continue to challenge them so that they can reach new heights of music making.  Research shows that if students are interested in their tasks they will perform better.  My goal is to keep student engagement high as we learn difficult skills by keeping lessons focused on what the student finds exciting!

Making a connection with other people through music is one of the most amazing feelings out there.  Seeing a student growth and the sense of accomplishment when they have achieved something difficult is what makes this job great.

He was extremely down to earth with his teaching. So many classes ive taken, the teacher is rigid in their teaching to a fault, where if youre unable to learn their way, you wont learn at all. Mr. Whitehead is willing and happy to accommodate multiple learning styles along with reaching out with unique ways to practice and learn. While he himself may not be an expert in Ska music, he understands the stylings and my goals well enough to teach me and give me the right foot forward. Along with that, teaching via zoom, cant be easy, even on my end, zoom calls can sometimes be hectic and just down right exhausting, however learning with Mr. Whitehead is not only engaging but fun to boot, keeping me interested and motivated through out the experience and meetings. I would highly recommend Mr. Whitehead to anyone, young or old, attempting to learn to play music or better their craft

Tony has been a phenomenal teacher for my ukulele lessons. He's helped walk me through learning chords and strumming patterns, developed tutorial videos for me to practice with, and has adjusted and adapted to my learning needs along the way. I feel way better about playing then I did 3 weeks ago and look forward to learning more.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I start by identifying students goals and building and raport with them.  Research shows that students perform better when they are interested in what they are studying so I make sure that our lessons are always geared towards the students' interest.

Once we have that ground work we start with basic skills and pedagogy to identify any areas that can be quickly worked on to show how good practice can lead to exciting results.  Finally, we develop a practice plan for the student so that they can continue to develop their skills.
