Susan is one of the most dedicated voice teachers I have ever had. Her technique is very analytical and scientific, and it it is one that she is constantly working on and revising as she does more research and workshops certain exercises with her students. When I walk in the room, we get right to work without delay. She helped me recover from my voice change and re-taught me how to sing, and I will be forever grateful for that.

Susan is an incredibly talented voice instructor with a true gift for connecting with her students. Her love for her students shines bright in every lesson.

She not only knows exactly what you need to get from point A to point B she’s experienced.

I should begin by mentioning that I’ve had many vocal coaches in the past, and none of them really knew how to properly train me. This all changed when I met Susan. To me, it’s very important to be able to trust and feel comfortable with a vocal coach, especially since I am naturally a shy person and relatively new to singing. Susan was so friendly from the very first phone call and even friendlier in person. She insisted that I start from scratch and asked which genre I was most interested in. Looking back, even though I really didn’t want to start over, I am glad that she suggested this, since I’ve been able to correct a lot of bad habits. Susan is also a very innovative teacher, and she uses pictures and props to explain exactly how vocals work. I really think it’s important to understand the instrument you’re playing, and for me, that instrument is my voice. She often says that our voice is a muscle and we need to gradually build it up, just like we would any muscle at the gym. She also has a way of simplifying things to make them more easily digestible. For example, I never thought I could learn Music Theory, but she approached it by giving me a little information at a time, making sure I understood it, and then building on that. Finally, Susan always pushes her students beyond what they think they’re capable of, and she keeps up an optimism that is really motivational. I have been with Susan for over a year now and plan to continue with her for a long time – until she makes my big dreams a reality!

Susan Niekamp was my voice and piano teacher from 4th grade until I began college at UCF. I remember walking into my first lesson wondering what was to come. What was to come were years filled with Susan instilling confidence in me and creating an environment that allowed for me to experience music in a way I had never experienced. I participated in musical productions such as Beauty and the Beast (08), High School Musical (10) Into the Woods (12), as well as performing with Barry Manilow, and participating in Catch Em on the Rise, an original songwriting showcase at Gulf Coast Town Center, in 2014. During High School the highlight of my week was coming to my weekly Saturday lesson and working on original music with Susan. I began writing music in 8th grade, but Susan was the first person I ever played my music for. . Even now as I teach in North Carolina, I still send original composition recordings and covers for Susan to work on with me. Susans musical expertise along with her passion for her students and music sets Susan apart from other musical coaches and I am fortunate to have been able to take lessons with such an incredible teacher for so many years.

Susan Niekamp is a wonderful vocal instructor and provides a fun and engaging approach to her teaching techniques! Her professionalism and eagerness to help any student are always met with overwhelming encouragement and a positive attitude. Currently, I have been studying at Susan Niekamp Studios Inc. for over 12 years, and I can attest that she provides the best vocal technique that there is to offer! She is truly passionate about her work and continually strives to help each and every student that comes her way. She is a wonderful friend and teacher and Im so happy to have worked with her. She has and continues to help me in my vocal pursuits, allowing me to attain a strong and powerful voice. Thank you so much, Susan, for all that you do!
