About

I am a USPTA Elite Professional coach, have been ranked nationally and regionally, former USTA official (2018), CPR certified and Safeplay certified. And here is a testimonial from an industry expert:

“I’ve known Doug for over 30 years as a tennis player, instructor, official and a businessman. Doug has my wholehearted support and confidence that he can help you have fun, relax and enjoy your tennis experience while optimizing your tennis potential.” Dave Grant, Former Penn Tennis President and player.

I love being on the court and seeing students grow in tennis and in their personal life. Tennis is a journey just like life.

I can help guide you through the learing process that will help you be the best that you can be on the court and hopefully off the court. Nothing in this world is easy but if you enjoy what you're doing and have fun the work part of it is not as difficult.

Frequently asked questions

I try to make it as simple as possible for the students.

First there is a quick evaluation with two questions included. First are there any physical or other issues that we need to be concerned about and second, what are your goals and objectives. After that I develop a customied program and a path to meet your goals and objectives on a short and long term basis. It can be as simple as just exercise or as complex as breaking down all strokes and building them up to meet a goal of a tennis scholarship or more. Or anything in-between.

Certified as stated above and college grad.

From a playing standpoint I've played over 300 tournaments throughout the country over a 30 plus year period in various age groups. I have been nationally and regionally ranked for most of those years.

I have taught in a junior training program as well as with many adults from beginners to college players.

Pricing is dependent upon the number and type of lessons.

Interesting story. I had some spare time and approched the pro working at a junior training facility to help. I requested to work with the most difficult technical problem a student was having. It was the serve of a 16 year old. Well, long story short I corrected the serve and it happened to be the pro's son. About a week later she made me an offer of employment.

I enjoy all of them. From 5 years old to 70 years old. I'm best with children over 7 years old and older and adults.

Those that take up tennis are normally very interesting and intelligent and I try to tap into that part of thier personality as well.

I've worked with physically challanged folks...it is very rewarding and fun.

I worked with an autistic teenager. He was GREAT!

Try and understand your goals and abjectives related to what you want out of tennis.

It really depends on your goals and objectives but  try to find a well rounded experienced pro to help you.
