About
Hi everyone!
Thanks for checking out my profile.
All my lessons are online now and children must be at least 8 years old. If this interests you, check below under VOICE LESSONS or PIANO LESSONS for more details.
VOICE LESSONS
The first step is a free 30-min lesson and from that, I will know what to focus on and you will know what to expect.
Once you have signed up, you will have access to the vocal exercises and breathing exercises videos which will be made just for you to practice at home. We will also work on the songs that you love and start to build your confidence by making sure that you are choosing the best songs for your voice and singing them in the right key (not too low or too high).
I can create an accompaniment for you on piano or guitar when you don't want to sing to a commercial backing track.
Some singers also learn how to accompany themselves on piano with me.
If confidence is an issue, then you will learn how to project your voice as a singer and out in life so you are heard and understood. Stage presence is also covered.
For the future:
When things open up again we will go back to having
End of Semester Concerts twice a year in Clearwater and
recording in my studio (very popular with all my students)
PIANO LESSONS
As with voice, the first step is a free 30-min lesson.
I want to know what you really want to play. Pop? Mozart? Jazz? A bit of everything? I want to know what you can already do and we will build on that (or start from scratch and get you playing immediately).
Most of my students play by ear and read music.
Our End of Semester Concerts will be back at some point and you will get to meet the other students and join in the fun!

Now, let's make some music! Vera
I enjoy seeing the breakthroughs in my students.
Here are some examples:
1. Children who had never sung in front of their parents getting up and performing in a concert. (Parents amazed! "We had no idea!").
2. Piano students realizing they can play by ear!
3. Singers who come and tell me they would never want to record their singing as it would never be good enough. Then I watch them listen to their first recording and I usually see tears of joy. Then I reach for the Kleenex for them (and for me)
4. Teenagers who become relaxed enough around me to share the music they love and let me know exactly what they would like to learn.
5. Parents telling me that there has been a noticeable increase of confidence in their child with the lessons.
6. Older students where I manage to convince them that it is not too late and they just need to focus and they'll do it. Then seeing them master a song or piece of music that they have always wanted to do.
Well there's a few. The list is endless. I love my students!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with an assessment for one hour.
For singing, I find their range, where the voice changes register, pitching ability, ability to dulicate a tune, breathing capacity and posture. That's the technical stuff.
We also talk about any singing they've done in the past and how it went, what they want to improve and what their musical goals are. Then I write a program based on that info.
I use recording so they can hear themselves and do their own evaluation of progress. I use video to show them how their stage presence is improving. We do vocal and breathing exercises at the beginning of every lesson. Then songs.
For piano there is also an assessment where I can discover what they do and do not know. This covers knowledge of the keyboard, scales, chords, sight-reading. Once I know the starting point, then I find out what music do they really want to play and write a program from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester UK. This is a full music teaching qualification.
Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, UK.
This is an additional qualification specifically as a voice teacher.
I also studied songwriting and electronic music for a summer at UCLA in California.
